The Girona Territorial Management, Catalan Institute of Health maneges 27 primary care teams (EAP) and the Hospital Universitari de Girona Dr. Josep Trueta, the largest in the province and reference hospital. The center, part of the integrated public healthcare system  of Catalonia (SISCAT) has the responsibility to provide specialized assistance to the community, an approximated  population of 839 960 people, according to the Central Register of Insured of  CatSalut 2014. It is the center for seven basic health areas (4 in Girona :Santa Clara , Can Gibert del Pla, Montilivi-Vilaroja ,Taialà and Banyoles, Celrà and Sarria de Ter).

In total, the Girona Territorial Management  is formed by a team of over 3,200 professionals,  403 hospital beds including the beds of  Catalan Institu of Oncology (ICO) - (distributed between conventional beds  and critics semicrítics),  11 operating rooms, 173 cabinets and outpatient services -including the ICO; 34 primary care centers and 115 local offices distributed throughout the country, which make ICS the leading supplier of healthcare services in Girona. Is also, part of the Biomedical Research Institute of Girona Dr. Josep Trueta ,leading biomedical research in the Girona region. The ICS Girona has advanced diagnostic and therapeutic resources and has a policy that focuses on   teaching and research. Its aim is to adapt to the changing needs of the population to achieve continuous improvement of quality of care.
